MEET AIMEE| THE MOTHER OF DIY

Hi, I’m Aimee — aka The Mother of DIY. I’m a mom of four, a lifelong creator, and the kind of person who sees a blank wall and instantly starts dreaming in shiplap.
Our family has spent the past several years flipping and renovating the homes we lived in—not just for fun (though I do love a good demo day), but to build toward something bigger. With each house, we worked hard, saved smart, and slowly chipped away at our dream of moving to the country. Today, we’re finally here—on a little patch of land we call the Forever Farm.

But this story didn’t start with power tools and floor plans. It started with a can of paint and a bedroom wall. As a kid, I cracked open some leftover paint and went rogue with hand-painted polka dots. Thankfully, the OG Creator—my mom—stepped in and fixed it up. That moment sparked something in me, and I’ve been creating ever since.

And thankfully, I didn’t have to do it alone.
Enter Kody — the muscle behind the madness. He’s the calm to my chaos, the guy who can fix or build just about anything, and the reason my wildest ideas actually become reality. Somehow, this mechanically inclined man saw something in a 5-foot-2 whirlwind of too many ideas, too much energy, and a whole lot of ambition.
Together, his skill + my creativity + our kids’ relentless work ethic = the life we’re building by hand, one project at a time.

From budget renos to dollar-store birthday parties (11 years and counting), I’ve always believed that beautiful doesn’t have to mean expensive. We believe in creating a home that serves your family and reflects your story — with intention, faith, and a little dust along the way.

I’ve been party-planning on a budget for over a decade, clearing out dollar stores and hot-gluing my way through 11 years of over-the-top birthday celebrations for our kids. I’m an animal lover through and through—and I’ve brought home more strays than my husband Kody ever consented to ( I’ve also knocked down a few walls without his permission, so it all balances out).

We are deeply rooted in our faith — and thank goodness for that! If you follow along with our wild little family long enough, you’ll notice we don’t just get the occasional rain cloud… we get full-blown tsunami winds. If something weird, unfortunate, or downright unbelievable is going to happen, odds are we’re smack in the middle of it.
Seriously — one time, I was invited to perform at the Canadian Country Music Awards as an “upcoming artist”… except the invitation came from someone impersonating the president of the entire Canadian Country Music Association. True story. My mom still has the newspaper clippings. Long story long — I didn’t perform, but I did get to attend a pretty incredible event, scam and all.

But that is exactly the promise God gives us — that He can bring beauty from the mess, and purpose out of the unexpected. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28
That verse is written all over our life. We’ve seen it time and again — in every setback, detour, disaster, and unfinished project. God has used it all for good. And we wouldn’t trade this wild, unpredictable, grace-covered story for anything.

As Christian, I believe our path has always been guided by something far greater than our own plans. Every decision, every leap of faith, every “let’s just go for it” moment has been covered in prayer and led by the belief that when God opens a door—you walk through it (or demo it wide open if needed).

I believe in intentional living, stretching every dollar, and creating homes that serve the people in them. We raise our kids right in the middle of it all—teaching them the value of hard work, resourcefulness, and the unshakable confidence that they can do anything they put their minds to.

Our projects are fast-paced, messy, creative, and fueled by a lot of coffee and even more grace. You’ll find DIY tutorials, budget breakdowns, design inspo, honest storytelling, and probably a chicken or two wandering through the background.
Whether you’re here for inspiration, a good laugh, or just to follow along as we build a life full of faith, family, and sawdust—I’m so glad you’re here.

Welcome to our chaos. Let’s build something real—together.

“If it wasn't chaotic, loud, or slightly dangerous—then I probably wasn’t there.”
